Without ever really trying or thinking about it, many of my abstract paintings end up looking like an underwater scene. Maybe it's the colors that I prefer to work with. Maybe it's the way I thin my paint to create a sense of flow. Maybe it's the repeated use of circles that hint at bubbles. Or maybe I'm channeling another lifetime or an alternate universe where my days are spent beneath the waves. Whatever the reason, with this piece I chose to lean into the theme by layering bubbles of oil pastel over the top of an acrylic background to create a scene that is undeniably submerged.

This dreamy piece features a deep blue background and varying shades of green that give the impression of being lost among aquatic plant life. Bubbles of soft blue, purple, and pink adorn the canvas to give it a sense of buoyancy and balance. Already fitted into a rustic brown frame that is reminiscent of a shipwreck, this painting is ready to fill a gap on a gallery wall, accent a bookshelf, or add a pop of color to your desk.
