Portal to Atlantis - Original Painting
'Portal to Atlantis'
Acrylic on Canvas Board, 8 x 10 inches
Atlantis is a legendary island first described by the Greek philosopher Plato around 360 BCE as an advanced, utopian civilization. According to his dialogues Timaeus and Critias, the island ultimately sank into the ocean following an earthquake or some other cataclysmic even. While historians and classical scholars agree that Atlantis was a philosophical allegory rather than a real historical place, there are some who believe wholeheartedly in the Atlantis myth and even believe it may still be a thriving society today. Perhaps this portal will help you get there.
This soft and dreamy piece uses pastel yellow, orange, and purple along with darker shades purple and green to give the impression of being underwater as the sun is setting. Purple "bubbles" and a swirl in the center give the painting a sense of movement. Already fitted into a minimalist black frame, it's ready to display on a wall, either as a standalone piece or as part of a gallery wall.
Dimensions including frame: 10 x 12 inches
